Transatlantic Discourse on Integration: "The Role of Religion for the Integration of Migrants", November 25, 2005

Supported by the German Marshall Fund of the United States the european forum for migration studies (efms) organized the transatlantic expert workshop "The role of religion for the Integration of Migrants" on November 25, 2005 in Berlin. The workshop brought together representatives from Europe and North America, including representatives from the government, academia, nongovernmental organizations, educational system and different religious groups.

After an introductory session on integration and religion in the United States and Germany, the interrelation between religious ethics, inter-religious relations and integration in both countries was discussed. This was followed by a presentation and discussion of concrete legal regulations and religious instruction in schools. Finally, chances of religious pluralism and dangers of religious extremism were debated.

The conference report can be found here.
