Maren Borkert

Born in 1975. Studied Romanistic (Diploma), with specialization in Italianistic and Hispanistic Studies, and Sociology at the "Otto-Friedrich" University of Bamberg and the University "Carlo Bo" of Urbino (Italy). Currently she is preparing her PhD thesis about the implementation of integration policies in Italy including formal provisions, the interaction between political and civil actors involved and the de facto policy implementation in local realities. While being accepted for achieving a Doctoral degree in the department of Sociology of the University of Bamberg, Maren Borkert attended a Marie-Curie-Pre-Doctoral-Fellowship at the University of Padua (Italy). Founding member and vice-president of the international Non-Profit-Association HERMES, which brings together European researchers working in the field of migration, ethnic relations and minority studies. Founded for a significant part by women, HERMES aims at promoting the relevance of women within European social science.
